What is essential for scholars is to take time to acknowledge their positionality and improve their self-knowledge and understanding of the political implications of their role in society. Writing If I Were Gilberto Gil has certainly helped me progress in this endeavour. Indeed, the song made me revisit my meaningful collaboration with Raquel Goulart Sztejnberg on place branding, the journey to Rio de Janeiro, the encounters with the talented musicians featured in this project.
